Named first team All-State his junior and senior seasons, played on South squad in 1992 Junior Olympics. Selected to High School National Team by USA Today, All-American Team by Baseball America and Gatorade Arkansas Player of the Year in 1993. 2002 Twins representative for the Roberto Clemente Award. 2004 recipient of the Carl R. Pohlad Award recognizing outstanding community service throughout the Upper Midwest.
