Matt Kemp

Los Angeles Dodgers
Drafted out of high school in 2003, Matt obliterated scout expectations, making his major league debut on Opening Day 2007 with the Dodgers at age 21. Matt hit eight home runs in his first 16 major league games, just three years removed from high school, posting the fourth-highest single-season batting average (.342) in Los Angeles Dodger history, the best in the National League, and third-highest mark in baseball among players with 300 or more plate appearances. While Mattšs performance in his second season was also incredible, closing 2007 with a .342 batting average and becoming only the tenth right-handed batter since World War II to hit .320 or better before age 23, his sense of personal and social responsibility extends well beyond his talent.

Committed to getting involved off the field; leveraging his "superstar" status to make a difference in the community, Matt has and will continue to take every opportunity to give back to children in the community. And while his passion to this point has benefitted children of all walks, Matt has stepped in to raise support and awareness for autism which affects his 14-year old brother, Carlton, and more than 1.5 million others in the United States alone.

"I always wanted a little brother that I could play ball with, but Carlton just isn't able to do that. Most of the time he's too nervous to just hang out with me alone. My family didn't know about the treatments available to help him play ball or just 'hang out'. Hešs 14 now…I don't want another family to have to feel that void of a family member who's present."
